it's a creepy loophole hi this is Charles hoskinson broadcasting live from warm sunny Colorado and we're joined today by some special guests every now and then we actually interview people in the community for Community projects and we are joined by Jorge and vletic and they run a lovely Community Driven project called dungeon Drunken Dragon games and I I saw some screenshots of it and I was I kind of got a synopsis of it I said oh this is incredibly awesome it'd be a lot of fun to to actually bring them on the show and have them talk a little bit about who they are their backstory and how they got involved in cardano and the things that they're doing as many of we are going to be creating a kind of a more advanced podcast so over time we're going to move Beyond just a AMA stream yard occasional interview model to something a bit more professionalized and part of that is bringing people from the community on so we're kind of beta testing things a bit and so I really appreciate you two guys coming here and being here and I hope we can all learn a lot about your project I also want to introduce the community to my EA JJ so he's kind of the Jamie of the of the podcast and he's been working with me for a while and we do some great work together so every now and then we'll ask JJ to look something up or show something and it's going to be a lot of fun all right so let me turn it over to Jorge and vletic who are you guys where are you from let's talk about your story where'd you come from yeah definitely well first of all Charles is an absolute honor to be here a I'm I think we're really really hyped to to be here we're really happy to be part of this community so this is just huge lots of love well I'm umbletic I'm the creative director of Drunken Dragon games at Drunken Dragon games or mission is to create the most epic fantasy Universe to share an experience or love for fantasy so right now we're creating an online game using cardano nfts and fds but really or a real objective is a creation of a fantasy universe and we just think that blockchain is the perfect technology to accomplish this to accomplish a whole new era of of experience experiencing the creation of Adventures so we're all about Adventures we're all all about community and I mean we have so much to talk about oh yeah we will we'll get there let's start with you and before we get to the fantasy universe so what's your backstory where do you come from well [Music] I'm already I'm originally from Mexico and I've been living in the Netherlands for the last five years in in Amsterdam my background is in software engineering back in engineering actually my my specialty is a functional programming with Scala so love Haskell of course and it's actually this love for for functional programming that it took me to to the Carolina Community is I think I've been following blockchain technology for a long time a I think basically because probably the three things that have defined me through life has been a passion for technology for fantasy and and for making I've always wanted to make a great positive impact in the world so this took me to blockchain technology the idea of this centralization and of course as soon as I knew about cardano it was a match made in heaven because it's you guys had a all of the scientists that are personal Heroes for me like Philip watler and and also I think it's not just the blockchain technology but what it's used for and the fact that the whole objective of cardano and ihk and all the organizations behind it is about the people this for me it felt I I felt in love with with cardano and with the mission that we're doing together so of course actually like even I was in the Pluto's Pluto's Fest in 2018 I believe right I I still have my napkins with with the formal specification of Pluto's and yeah actually you have a Lambda tattoo as well yeah I have a couple of tattoos in my body oh that's that one but in the chest here I I I really wanted to to get a Lambda tattoo and of course the Haskell's Haskell's logo is like really beautiful so I just had to to go for it I think once you retweeted a picture with with me and and Philip was there right they that that story is is actually a bit funny because it was in one one one Netherlands meet up for cardano and he he presented and then I approached him to to just to to ask for actually to ask for a photo that that's how how fun boy I am and and then as soon as I approach it I think I had a the Lambda tattoo showed a bit and before I could say something if Philip turned to me and he said like oh wow that's a really cool tattoo can I have a picture with you and I was like no no no wait I want a picture with you okay so so functional programming is it's it's a beautiful thing but it's a world away from game development you don't typically see a lot of functional programmers work their way into the game development world so what what was the passion or intersection to actually want to go and and start building game experiences as opposed to becoming a traditional functional programmer and doing scientific stuff for writing papers or these types of things well [Music] I think I think several things in in my life like brought me to this point because it is funny that that you mentioned Academia and stuff because before coming to the Netherlands I had a decision to make between a pursuing a software engineering career here in the Netherlands or I wanted to actually go back to University and study mathematics so it was a little bit hesitant and but in the end I decided to go and make some money so that I can later on return and study mathematics but but I think that in the end I realized that a a technology is is just a tool right and a it's it this idea of trying to like change the world it's for make a positive impact always came back so it was more towards a trying to achieve that the reason why I came here to the Netherlands just to try to find that and a and there was a moment in which a after trying several things I follow stride like different startups with education what else I says you want to make a scientific research organization a long time ago Etc in Mexico a I realized that Humanity will always have a new level of abstraction in which it will cause problems to itself like there are always going to be something new if we solve like world hunger right now or world peace or whatever there's going to be a new set of issues that will worry and be miserable about I mean if you look back into history we're in the best position right now we have amazing technology we have a lot of really cool stuff and we're still miserable right so I I realize that what I really want to do is impact people's life through a making their lives feel meaningful so when I look back at my life the moments in which I felt the most like that my life was truly happy was the moments in which I was sharing fantasy with my friends or with my wife right it's like these moments in which we were like playing World of Warcraft together or just playing during some dragons and having some good laughs and just which Edition did you come in were you a third edition kid or fourth edition or fifth edition for Dungeons and Dragons I would love to say that I'm a like this really old I would love to say like second edition or something like that and we like super history about it but I must say that I'm a fifth edition go on in in Mexico it had like many persons to play with but here I bought I bought the books and I didn't have a dungeon master so I became a dungeon master myself and watching a lot of critical role Etc like trying my own voices Etc and was able to like muster one or two groups here and yeah yeah it's interesting years ago I was at a movie theater and I looked at the person left at me and she was on her phone then the person to the right of me was on her phone everybody's just distracted this movie's going on it's a great movie it's very captivating and no no one's paying any attention to it but video games are one of the last mediums that we have or Fantasy games where people actually go all in and not only do they pay attention it becomes a singular point of attention they potentially spend too many hours in a fantasy world as opposed to not enough so it's it's incredibly forgiving medium to tell great experiences in and we're starting a game division at input output and our first foray is crypto bison but there's certainly a large list of Fantasy games that I've been wanting to build and I've been buying the intellectual property for them to kind of prime the pump but I want to bring Jorge into this so where are you where are you from what's your background and how did you guys meet well first of all it's also a very big honor for me to be here thanks for the invitation well I'm from Mexico and my background is like full on Art I study Fine Arts and I'm a big dork which would but everything that is about art like illustration literature the comic books animation illustration everything so all sculpting also so when I was studying art I I started to to realize that the maximum media was a cinema because if it is a lot of different disciplines come together a literature and painting and all this color theory and stuff but the The Next Media was video games that's why I I started to to go more of a video game creating a cinema did you find yourself more on the director's side or the cinematography side the storyboarding what what part of Cinema was it I I I was a student back there so I I didn't have like resources to to make my own movies that I wanted to do but I could like draw storyboards and and stuff like that but at the end of the career I realized that video games was the the best way to the future because at some point I don't remember the the philosopher that that said this but art approaches the the mind through the the language of the dreams we dream and then like people is are very they found themselves very moved by by dreams so movies are kind of like dreams right because they they last a dream and they are like surreal and then and but it's very contemplative the cinema but but games are the next step it's a movie that you can like interact with right so so that's why I like for me it was obvious that video games was the the next big thing like to to move people's hearts right so so did you have any favorite directors when you were studying film oh well a lot this director I love but it's a very common one it's not like this Lars Montreal or something like that it's Robert zemekis he directed Back to the Future and Forrest Gump which are actually two of my favorite movies I love those movies like Forrest Gump is like my all-time favorite movie because it's so it's you have action and drama and right and it just does a great job of just simply telling a story and making you really care for the protagonist yeah it's a lot of games or movies they try to create emotional Stakes inside a narrative Arc and yeah they run into this problem of well if they've done a poor job of creating those Stakes by the time you have an event happen you're like skip I don't care I don't give a [ __ ] let's just get to the action it was funny John karmic they asked he's got created Doom a doom yeah they asked him well what about the plot of Doom and he said well it's kind of the plot of a porno it's there but nobody really cares about it yeah there's some other priority that people are definitely moving towards and exactly and boom right yeah Doom is Doom right although they tried to create a plot with Doom 3 and I and I guess they finally converge to kind of a healthy medium between frenetic action and and and a reasonable plot okay so how did you two guys meet did did you both grow up together in Mexico or did you meet each other through the cardano community or what happened Charles we haven't seen once in real life so it was cardano that brought us together in a sense because so the drunken drone started by me creating the DND pool so we're also stick stackable operators and so that was that that was like my my weekend a project and a friend came and said like hey you have like technical skills and Quran is really cool why don't you do it and I was like yeah that is true like why not why I don't so I did it but then I thought we need an extra incentive right like if something that we have to learn from this whole blockchain era is that incentive smarter and Game Theory matters right so it was like okay we I there's already a lot of popular pools I Gotta Give an extra so then it came the idea of the nfts were starting to explode so it's like why don't I offer some collectibles on the side and I already had the idea of the game before but couldn't made it that's another story so I drew the first pixel tiles which were the first like cards [Music] and I started offering them and it started growing slowly but people are starting like catching on and for me it was always about the people so some people stayed because of the fantasy and because I I think I didn't promise a lot so I'm really grateful for those who are stuck in the in the beginning but there was a moment in which I was like all right I really need someone who's really good at pixel art because my amateur pixel artist it's a Jorge was your guy this is the guy so so basically I was I think I was lucky because I have another friend who's really into the game video game industry and she I asked for her help and then she started like posting on a on different places and there's this like Discord for like Latin American game developers and and her Jorge replied and we started the conversation and I think we had a long Discord conversation where we talked about like blockchain and video games and stuff like that so so and and I mean he is a I really encourage everyone to see jorgeous art because he's a really skillful artist so so so I mean Jorge can tell his side of the story in a moment but I I think it was a really good match because well Jorge also is creating a a game if he can tell about it he can tell about it but I love his art I loved what he was creating for for his own game so I invited him to CR to create the what we call the Grand Master adventurers collection so I told him Jorge we need to do something special we need to try to do something different so we well you can see the unchurched the Grand Master Adventure collection for yourself but we invested a lot of effort and emotion into that one and and that one pixel art bitmaps are we talking about 3D models are they digitized sketches or what what what exactly when you see art it's a broad category so what particular artwork were we talking about here well for for the collection or for Jorge's art for for starting with the collection yeah well The Grandmaster adventurers collection it's adventurers right because the Drunken Dragon is all about the fantasy adventurers and these Adventures they're a they're like full body front with a a circle with backgrounds on the side and it's animated as well like on on Cycles but I think the way in which we wanted to make I wanted we wanted to make it special it was by make making it feel like there's a world in a whole fantasy world in in the back which is what we want to create so we invested a lot into giving a lot of character to the classes because the collection is is more like Dungeons and Dragons like or like MMORPG so there's like 10 different classes like fighter Guardian Clary drude and they have variations of weapons and armors and their backgrounds are animated within like different the paladinism like in a holy city with like rose petals falling and the Druid is like in a jungle so a well yeah yeah so Corey take me through the creative process start to finish when you create one of these because there's obviously you guys have to tell a backstory and we'll get into the elements of good score storytelling but just from the art itself like do you start with a notepad and a pen or do you just start with a computer and an iPad or something how do you actually go about this well it's gonna it's pretty easy it's all in Photoshop yeah I just have a tablet a Wacom tablet so bleeding says tells me what his crazy ideas are and I sketch a little bit of a silhouette first and show it to him and then he approves he we discuss what what silhouette reflects the the best of the character of like or maybe a weapon or or like have a interesting features that will convey to the expectator and then I I come back with a silhouette and paint the the colors in and at the beginning it was only the the characters and the background was the the card but then bloody has had the amazing idea that I can animate everything and he was a lot of elaborate job was it was it a gif animation or something like that yeah okay yes they are and in the end I think we we did I'm very proud of of the work we we came was the inspiration an 8-bit character like Final Fantasy or what was what was the source of inspiration for the artistic style oh it was first of all I have to to see everything about DND because I knew it existed and I played the blizzard games like Hearthstone and and whoa and I know about them but I had to like to to go deep in that lore about of DnD and and see the style and bledik had already put some kind of a style with with his with his pixel tiles so I try to to do a something in between okay so let's talk about then building the world around the characters yeah so you want to make them go to life and you're going Beyond a pitcher and you're saying well where do they live what do they do World building is super fun but also it's an Endless River as George RR Martin started learning with Westeros he's invested I think now 30 years in this endeavor he's nowhere close to Don and Tolkien is the same way so you could you could kind of overdo it and there's some diminishing returns there so how do you go from a picture where you guys say hey that's it that's beautiful and it's moving to actually a game world around that what's your creative process about that well I think to start answering that question it's important to add a little bit of context to explain or process which is that after the Grand Master Adventures collection sold out we were using all of this money to actually create a game studio so right now we have a like maybe 15 persons working with us like every day full time and we're working the next collection which is way much more beautiful because we're doing like full Splash art with some crazy good artists and we're starting to invest a lot into the actual game game world the lore development which is what I'm going to talk about right now but what I want to say is that through these last six months it's been a a challenge of creating a company creating a startup I mean I I have a few Charles know this completely like really good at the beginning a company is it's all about discovering the processes right so we're starting to build a and discover the actual like pipeline of work we started like really simple also like with the help of Jorge with all his experience in his previous experience but for example right now we're building for the next collection like some a really complex Splash art like full flesh splasher League of Legends style and this of course is a lot of work and it's not just that but I also wanted more because I don't want I just don't want it to be beautiful but I want to have a world behind that so we're going through the challenge of a building the world just enough so that we can like move forward but basically a having a I've been building a lot of that lore together in with several members of the team and in this winter vacations I I just spent one quick like in mirror.com like developing the region that we're gonna play in first called fielden so you actually did a set on a mural board yeah yeah we have a we have several mirror boards and one of the most important is the the series 2 collection and in there we have a pipe right now we have an art pipeline of maybe 14 steps a which is it starts like really early on a concept we already have a general concept of the Lord lore of of the olden so that means like what is a the general a feeling to it what are the challenges what are the civilizations the languages everything at a high level you start a you start at a very high level abstract and then you try to move through the pipeline into very concrete so the next steps are things like for example we always work with a lot of references this is super important so the first the first stage is a character concept right so the character concept goes through a a proposal of the character based on the lore right like is this going like from this civilization what is his role in this civilization this is all written down and then based on that we gather references and then the con the concept artist starts proposing things so we always propose like several Concepts from which We Gather the things that we and we discuss the character and what is its role in the lore and then we consolidate into a character and this is just for the character design because then goes the product development which is the actual card which is also like several steps we're constantly trying to refine which then again several steps of finding references a a figuring out the Lord just for for the context of the card like for example if it's a blacksmith we don't just want it to be a blacksmith we want it to be a blacksmith in field in the world what is his role with the rest of the community with the other characters of the collection Etc and there's like several also steps in the pipeline which are like artistic technical which Jorge can maybe say more about it but is is is then it becomes a a all about like for example people there's one step which is only for a composition like artistic composition in the card and and so on and so forth do you want to like complement that for him well actually what I wanted to to mention that this is my part is pretty standard things like about quality in an image but I think that the thing that is that makes us different from other projects and it's one thing that athletic what I admire about platic a lot is the first thing he he did when when we sold out the The Grandmaster adventurers he went to the community which is Amazing by the way and and pull out like that the best the the the most invested guys there the the most interested in in building the world and he gave them like access to the project and let them like participate very very nicely in their in their not only in the community like Community managing and stuff but in the story and the the World building was amazing because in just one week the a lot of ideas converge in field and how did you do that you just invited him to the mural board or did you guys have a Discord or what was what was how you aggregated the community like what was that experience and how many people we we have a Discord which recently reached 5 000 members and we do everything in through Discord so of course the Discord is the perfect place for the community we try to add a lot of information there and the community itself they started like doing things like torch gang and like different things and is this an Open Access or invitation only no this is open access this is the well if you have a link I can post it right now for you guys oh definitely would love to while you're looking for that keep telling me about the Discord and the community building definitely so okay invite people to Drunken Dragon games General work sorry I'm That Kind of a person that kind of did things well I have it right here so private chat yeah just post on the chats yeah so also the Twitter is well the web page everything all links are at the web page which is Drunken Dragon dot games so it's easy to remember so so this Discord is the Discord for the community and we got moderators directly from from the members who who were really committed in the in as we started to become really committed in the project we call them the innkeepers and when we started like building the actual company so the actual game Studio it was a really early decision that the communication so instead of using slack or something else the idea is to was to use the same Discord that is for the community but for the development in a private in private channels this is because I wonder or developers and our artists to be in direct contact I mean one channel away with the people that were trying to bring value to right right and we also created a one private Channel which is called the Council of elronidas and in this one we invite everyone who reaches a certain level in this court so in this court right now that we have a bot which gives you like XP like in a game but the more you type so you gamified your own Discord and all the mechanics of Community Management are actually a video game and we didn't do it the community did it like because we invited the innkeepers which were directly from the community and and they started bringing all of this idea and a lot of members of the community started bringing this idea and we Implement them we hear them every we have a monthly developer updates just a ihk right and in there we always start by saying the mission of the company but also by saying or three core values a are trans we have a commitment for a quality a transparency and Community involvement and we we're working also on exploring ideas on how to increase that and we actually have a lot of ideas around this but okay so let's move let's move into the the meat and potatoes the the big thing so this the drunken dragons games this this let's move from nfts to something where I actually can do something with it play with it interact with the game World all right sell me on the vision what what is this game world is it a big MMO is it a single player game what what exactly am I doing with this yeah definitely well first of all for those who are watching we have a recorded video with exactly answering this question but the 40 minute long version of the answer that I'm gonna about to give so I encourage people to go and check it out and is that that link you just gave me the Drunken Dragon stock games yep okay let me post that for everybody so as I post it walk me through it well [ __ ] let's actually give it a test drive how about I share my screen yeah of course all right okay quit all right so here's what we're gonna do we're gonna click share screen isn't the future great I can just do all this crazy stuff all right here's everybody together and let's bring up the link right here I'll do the split screen for you guys boom okay so I am on the drunken dragons in and quests website there's an alpha here and everything so first walk me through this website what exactly am I doing how exactly do I begin playing the game or doing something well there's the play of a button which will take you to each dot IO where you can already download a or current version of the game okay I actually it's really easy you can just open it and run it and I could share you a wallet right now it works like pool.pm okay this is that a URL wallet and we'll read directly from the blockchain which pixel tiles and the collectible you have and then you you can already use it for the first thing which is displaying your collection but I mean I can start pitching the the game right now but I guess you wanted to show the video but this is the part in which you download the game and then in the web page we have other like core informational videos below and even below the collections the information of like what is a policy access to the a different place where they can find and browse the collection Etc so did you guys create all this artwork like this this this is Charles you're looking at the jorgeous artwork right here wow and a that's the video but let me just give a and and this is also Perez's Arte Grandmaster adventurers this this Splash art in the bottom as well but a huge shout out to or a artist in the community on on drunk and drone games which are doing an amazing view of representing our world with their art there's a lot of things we want to show already but they're in development and just to give a small preview which is the actual art which is in game right now this is from a an artist called look and a when trying to create the world in game with the pixel art I told him I this must be a warm World which is a basically a Ghibli together with the Lord of the Rings so with pixel art so we iterated a lot through it and he did an amazing job and then again one of the videos that is in there just to show that we're not just about a collect nfts and stuff we really want to invest into creating the world we created a narration with the terrific Voice or for a head of innkeepers called the thorough hurts and we did a narration of 10 minutes with his voice telling the story one of the one short story of a or next legendary Adventurer and her two companions well I assume one of you guys probably has the game installed on your computer Jorge yeah yeah you want to do a live stream that's all you got to do is share is that little mini button there share just click it and you click share screen kind of like Google hangouts or anything else it use the same underlying technology you want to take it for a test run and kind of walk us through a tutorial Charles I've loved to do that games together guys you excited yes okay yeah so just just make sure that all your screens are closed that you want close because the whole world is going to see it otherwise and actually while you're doing that athletic Jorge I do have some questions about the platform so I noticed that it's a Windows only installation did you ever have any discussions about having this as a browser-based game we haven't well not that I'm that I remember but at the beginning it was going to be a a cell phone game but oh again we went to the community and made a question an open question hey guys do you do you prefer the a cell phone game or a desktop game and like desktop went one but by by far so that's why we decided to make it to make it a moral of a desktop type of game like their own vulnerable but why not a browser-based game because that's also a desktop interface so was there just a specific pipeline you're you're using Unity or unreal and it was just easier to develop they are using we are using on real but I'm not sure why why I think if this is more of a kind of like athletic question no definitely so basically then again we really focused on making the game as fun as possible and there and also make it an absolute artistic Masterpiece so if we limit ourselves to desktop only and we're using a Unreal Engine for right now on the artistic side we gain a lot because we can be a little bit more free with the shaders and all the different effects that we can use I mean right now we're not exploiting it but we intend to do it and also regarding gameplay we really want to be this game the multiplayer game will have a it will be hard to tell if it's it is or it's not an MMORPG and it also the combat system we want to make or or philosophy behind the combat system is and we're going to talk more about it today this Thursday on the dev update but it's it to make it a of course a lot of fun easy to get into but with a lot of depth so I potentially want to see like Esports around it so of course for that having a keyboard and a mouse is you can develop yeah much much more complex yeah we're using Unreal five right now for crypto bison and it's it's been a great experience I'm a big fan of unity and then there also there's go Dot and Babylon JS and a few of these other middleware engines but unreal 5 in particular has a lot of great features that are bigger than the hood so I can understand why unreal 4 is quite appealing because it's it's a good ecosystem to build games around and it's got a great community and it's very easy to work with your pipelines okay so we're going to add this to the Stream all right we are in drunken dragons so walk me through this guys you're our dungeon master where are we going all right awesome well first this is the receiving main menu you received with by the way I saw in the chat a question which was like who's doing the music the music is done by my friend who helped me find Perez actually she is a music composer for video games and a movie scores she lives in Seattle in USA and she's really talented so she did an amazing job here but as I said right now the experience is a using full PM Style using a receiving address which you can log in with it later on you will have to a authenticate a wallet and we're also thinking about adding a lightweight wallet in the game right but well that's for the future right now the game will have a two important modes the collectors mode also known as the Eternal Realms and the adventure mode which is called the Mortal Realms the Mortal Realms it's gonna have like all the depth gameplay a complex economy cities exploring the world quests and a lot of things that we have planned but so that we can grow into that and because in the game we're still a game which is using nfts we created first the collectors mode the collectors mode works for two reasons one so that you can actually start enjoying your collection so these are the pixel tiles that we created they're like different adventurers and also furniture you'll have a also is there an in-game currency to purchase all these things or is it Ada or how does that work right now is is Ada only and this brings me actually to the second reason why we created the collectors mode which is to Shield the gameplay from a from pay to win mechanics so when one of the challenges that we're solving is a figuring out how to not import real life economy into our game economy basically because we wanted they came to be fun and if you've played video games enough that in MMORPGs right now the biggest issue is pay to win mechanics well I remember when I played Eve online I actually macro mined ice so I wrote a bot using Auto hockey and I had multiple accounts running at the same time and it would it would actually automatically control my characters and send them out to the asteroid belted mine ice and then come back and I'd run it 24 hours a day seven days a week it was completely random process and then the CCP released an update to start Banning people who were macro mining oh no so I I had to introduce stochasticism inside the arohaki model so it would sometimes randomly chat with people and then just like me at the space dock but it was this cat and mouse game that we played but I got so good at I was able to run four accounts concurrently and you have these things called Plex cards that were in the game and if you if you got 250 million isk which was the in-game currency and you could buy them and play for free so I actually played the entire game for free and every month I would make several billion-esque on top of that so I always had the best ships I was terrible at PVP so I'd lose all my incredible shed but but I had unlimited money because I was kind of like cheating a bit so I I'm fully caucus set of gold farming and how far people go with with those crazy in-game mechanics yeah so exactly from players you Charles we want to try to put those games we have to protect the game girls but but yeah so basically right now A you can build your you're a Tavern diorama you basically can display your collection right so we're going to we're using like this miniature metaphor is and yeah basically right now you can display it and of course we invested a lot into trying to make it feel it's part of a graded World it tell the fantasy and the story behind adventurers it this is not just a Tavern but a fantasy Tavern right so there's like training dummies they're using I assume these are bitmaps that you guys are rendering or what what is this under the hood the artwork or are these vector graphics well [Music] this yeah they're they're vector graphics so they're Expressions actually we're using it it to the over 3D okay so basically we display to the assets on a 3da world like if we were into the game engine actually right now we could like like see all of this like cardboard standing up yeah all right can you can you for the camera controls can you zoom in oh you can nice can you zoom out how far can we zoom out okay and can we leave the tavern can you walk me around the town so right not right now of course is one of the of the objectives we're going then again we're releasing versions really early and right now we since starting this month we are actually releasing one new version with new things every week so so one of the next things we're going to be working on is like improving this experience right we really wanted to like throw things to the hands of people as soon as possible so that we can have a constant feedback right all right we want to like have an agile Sprint and every week or so you have something so so do they move like chess pieces or or are you eventually going to animate the the movement yeah so we're basically embracing our limitations because animation takes an incredible amount of time an effort [Laughter] and I I learned from The Grandmaster adventurers not to ask or how to animate everything in the last moment but so we were stuck with this and basically because we want our world to be really rich and to have like many collections all of gold collections have limited amount of Miniatures with adventurers which are limited to that collection so in the end we want to have like thousands of adventurers and for people to be like like owning a Charizard from the first generation or something like that like to have it like really special that means that we will have to like make all of these animations for like thousands of of characters so the way in which we Embrace this limitation is by going for the miniature a a metaphor and yeah basically on our combat you you will see the Miniatures moving like if it like if you were playing a Warhammer or something like this but the whole world will be animated in the sense that we'll still make the like for example the combat feel impactful through like camera shakes and other effects Etc but but yeah actually we already published this week a preview of a of how we're starting to to work in the combat but but the adventure is very early Charles you're very early into the adventure yeah what's so cool about this is that there's a statefulness so I can come back in six months to a year and have you guys back on and say okay where were we at and where are we now and it's so cool when you build a community is you can rapidly evolve yeah I I could have when I first created cardano never imagined that these are the kinds of things that would be running on our network it's it's it was inconceivable to me in 2015 that we would see Drunken Dragon games and it'd have discords just materialized out of The Ether but it really showcases the power of community when we say there are 200 projects on cardano it's like well we see the dexes and these other things and the obvious ones and these are the fun ones because they really pull together a lot of different gameplay mechanics we have to get going here in just a little bit but I wanted to throw it back to you guys for some final thoughts so did I stop sharing yeah yeah it did awesome so final thoughts well [Music] I I think that the general message that I would like to to give is I I think that technology money Etc they're just tools there are tools that should impact in the end people and the way in which I know that you at ihk and Carolina is impacting through like for example giving a much needed Financial tools for those who don't have it the unbanked ETC for us it will be try to impact people through like making giving them an epic Universe to share with their friends and feel happy we really our final objective is to see people happy right and and I think this is a community the commitment that's from our side we want to keep close to our hearts we have a lot of things that we have planned for the future like including this idea of a we'll talk more about this week about it but about decentralized intellectual property there's gonna be a moment in which we're gonna open up the Drunken Dragon Universe we're gonna make all of our art Creative Commons we're gonna open source or game and technology and we will use a a cardanos a project Catalyst for on-chain governance over the universe of Drunken Dragon we really Envision a creating a universe where everyone can contribute to it so imagine like if you had the opportunity to contribute to Star Wars Universe right and right remove the a centralized organization that is doing nice or wrong things with your with your fantasy IP right so we really envisioned to have the Drunken Dragon Universe it to be a place where you as an artist or as a game Studio or as a a serious production company can come and propose instead of doing project Catalyst proposed cells for for funding or to make your actual project a a canon in the story of Drunken Dragon you would use a project Catalyst to do these kind of things right so we envision a distributed World which is like native for for the metaverse and stuff like this I we want to make the world's biggest Dungeons and Dragons role playing experience right where everyone can contribute to it when Third Edition dungeon the dragons came out watsi did something very interesting they open sourced the game system the D20 game system and it was a mixed bag for them because after they released fourth edition there was a Schism in the community and the community hated fourth edition so much that people just stayed in third ad so in response Watson started cracking down on some of the Publications like dragon and dungeon and these other magazines and and so then it created an arms race and eventually pazio created Pathfinder which became an alternative Viewpoint of Third Edition dungeons dragons but they couldn't stop them because the Game Source was open and now Pathfinder is a rich vibrant World video games are made like Wrath of the righteous and so forth and none of that was intended by watsi they they were trying to keep it the family and unfortunately for them they it escaped the lab and now it's there for better for worse and actually it's a great game World the Pathfinder Game World decentralized IP is very interesting and if you guys are are are willing I'd love if you could write a white paper on it to be able to review it because it's a topic we're quite interested in it's overlaid with the purpose and utility of nfts we have lots of artists all the time who talk to us like last night I was in the Twitter space with Sean Lennon John Lennon's son and we were talking about music and and obviously and a lot of things about monetization of artists and how do they build different relationships with their people and this idea that you kind of get the party started and then you let fans monetize or create their own fan fiction and that becomes Canon that's a desire that we've seen in Star Wars and Warhammer as a fantasy world it's so many different worlds people have done that Game of Thrones is another example and I I love the ambition that you guys are pursuing in this respect so dip might become a big thing decentralized IP and we're certainly going to try to explore that with crypto bison and create a game world and so forth but it's good to see that there are our game studios in our industry that are already focused on that all right Jorge the final words of yours my friend any clothing thoughts oh well I just want to to invite everybody that's watching this to the community in Discord you will find that the there's a lot of positive ideas and attitudes there and and you'll contribute to build this project as well and you you will very soon feel you're part of something like a family okay so if you guys want to be on and showcase your project the email to send an email to is Jeffrey Seiler iohk.
