Giveaway Scams

again but I'll make it again because the message is not getting through and I call upon each and every one of you who are listening and watching please propagate this video as far as you can take it this is industry-wide we are in a bizarre position as an industry where a group of hackers a group of bad people take videos I make italic makes Dan Larimer makes Gavin wood makes Brad garlinghouse makes Elon Musk makes Bill Gates makes and they create a class of scam called a giveaway scam they'll hack a YouTube channel or they'll create a new channel they'll take a video repost it with a Chiron that says giveaway you send your money to us your crypto to us we will double it and send it back this preys upon people's greed their stupidity and many cases their inability to properly speak English they're a lack of Competency there and we have witnessed now millions of dollars every month just in the cardano ecosystem of ADA that has been stolen this way there is not a single day I don't get an email about someone saying hey I sent you Ada when are you sending it back and there's nothing we can do about it who is at fault YouTube the social media people they allow and permit this to happen YouTube and Google are fully aware that giveaway scams are occurring every single day every day I get emails from people concerned citizens the cardano community who say hey we noticed in trending we noticed in recommended videos a giveaway scam how can YouTube be doing this we have no recourse there is nothing that we can do as a company or as a project we can report these but they're created through Automation and hijack channels and by the time they get shut down 10 more get formed obviously we can sue and both Ripple labs and Steve Wozniak have filed lawsuits against YouTube maybe these lawsuits will bear some fruit maybe we as a community each and every person who's aggrieved and has lost money because of a giveaway scam that was facilitated by YouTube could do a class action lawsuit it's an interesting proposition but let's be very clear there's nothing that we can do on our side to shut these things down we will never give away Ada five months ago I did a video and repeated that line again and again and again we will never give away Ada we will never give away Ada we will never give away Ada it is always a scam it is always a scam again and again and again it's always a scam you will lose your money there is no way to recover yet people's greed and stupidity lack of Common Sense and desire to get rich for doing nothing overcomes them or their lack of understanding of our industry because they can't connect to and access the materials of it hurt them we see this a lot we get a lot of emails from Vietnam in Taiwan Thailand we get a lot of emails from people in Africa and South America where English is their third language or Google translate as their substitute for it not understanding that they've just been scammed not understanding that these are scams for some reason our industry also doesn't want to come together on this issue we've tried we've reached out we've talked to people there doesn't seem to be a lot of demand in the industry other than just saying we're not giving away our crypto and moving on I'm damn tired of the emails I'm damn tired of the consequences of these things every single time someone gets defrauded their opinion of our entire industry and the assets that our industry works with is damaged in many cases people who have been defrauded refuse to believe that they've been defrauded for a while and they cling on to hope that there's something there and in some cases they get violent when they finally have that thing occur I've had death threats I've had people threatened assuming there was an lawyer apparently thinks he's the smartest person in the world reached out to me and said that I'm liable for his stupid mistake and threaten a lawsuit if we didn't give him his data back of course these are vacuous empty threats and but we do have to take some of them seriously especially when people send me pictures of my home saying give me back my Ada or I'll come find you these things happen a day after day after day every day like clockwork I get at least one email usually more than one and usually small amounts 500 data a thousand data sometimes large amounts nineteen thousand eight twenty thousand Ada and that's just in our ecosystem and I guarantee you the same thing is occurring in every other ecosystem because we see the videos YouTube refuses to do anything about it they don't care about it they're perfectly comfortable putting disclaimers on videos about vaccines or videos about coven that apparently their algorithms are so sophisticated the mere mention of the pandemic or something political that they don't like can get people de-platformed or a fake news label but when it comes to protecting people informing people that the video that they're watching is not real or de-platforming these criminals who are clearly impersonating people with a scam that we are all as an industry aware about it's not a priority they don't care about it and no matter how much money you lose how many people get hurt guess it's our problem not their problem even though they're providing a platform for these things to occur so we are not giving away Ada we've never given away Ada if you send Ada to a giveaway scam you will lose your money 100 guaranteed 10 out of 10 times there is nothing we can do you can't get your money back we as a software development company have no special Provisions or levers we can pull to reimburse people it's an open source software it's an open protocol all sales are final you if you send your Ada to a giveaway scam you've lost it no one can save you no one can help you we are not giving away Ada we are not giving away Ada we are not giving away Ada you will lose your money you will you lose your money you will lose your money and every single person in this community has to parrot that repeat that repeat it repeat it repeat it propagate tell people anyone who's new first video they see there is no such thing as a giveaway we will never conduct a giveaway you your greed and stupidity will result in the loss of all your money do not do it giveaways do not exist they never can exist they're always a scam they happen in cardano they happen in ethereum they happen with Bitcoin every single major figure in this industry has been victimized in this way it is deeply uncomfortable the emails that I get I continue to get and tomorrow I'm going to wake up and get another set of emails or people and I always send them the same video that when I created five months ago that's my only reply I don't even type anything anymore because there's so many of these things and I'm so tired of dealing with them most take it in good stride some don't what else is there to say though we're not giving away Ada we're not giving away Ada it does not exist these are giveaway scams you will lose your money we as a community and let's do our best to try to broadcast this message every day it's gotten so bad there's been actual discussions of disclaimers and other things that we built right into the wallet software that's the level we're at that we have to treat every single user in the system they're incompetent because so many people are falling for this millions of dollars are lost it's extraordinary to me it's absolutely extraordinary and to these criminals who keep doing this I hope to God that people find you and you suffer Justice I really do I hope we can find you as a community and as an ecosystem you are scum you're pure scum you deserve the worst possible fate absolute worst you are defrauding innocent people you're taking advantage of people's greed and ignorance for your own gain you are scum all of you words cannot express how thoroughly disgusted I am with you and for your conduct you have hurt everyone in this industry and you've damaged this industry and you're going to keep doing it because you make money but one day someone's going to catch you guys that's going to be a good day for us all as an industry we need to come together and we need to come together with a collective response to all of this we really do and if you have been victimized law firms out there this is a great opportunity a class action lawsuit against YouTube does sound a good idea at this juncture they're aware of this they watch my videos like everybody else does they know damn well that giveaway scams exist they can do analytics on their servers and see them they probably even have a rough idea of the regions that are hosting these things they're responsible for these things yet they choose to do nothing it's not a priority they don't care two trillion dollar industry is being victimized collectively millions of dollars a day are being stolen amongst all the different cryptocurrencies and a lot of people are being hurt especially vulnerable people older people don't matter to them that's an example of a tort I think there's absolute liability there and at this juncture I think it's perhaps the only solution a because it'll create a lot of visibility and it'll inform everybody in the space that this scam is indeed an issue B law enforcement will start taking this seriously and perhaps the FBI can look into this perhaps others can look into this and figure out the origins of these I suspect it's only a small group of criminal agents that are doing it just the Sim boosting campaigns in the past and maybe if they do that they start harshly punishing people things can be done and see if Google starts losing money over this instead of making money if they start actually feeling that they have a chance to lose this type of a lawsuit suddenly all those algorithms that are used to de-platform people and inform us of what's fake and what's real will be reapplied magically overnight to end these giveaway scams and lo and behold it'll become less of an issue on the platforms until those things are done nothing will change and no matter how many times I come to this microphone and say we're not giving away Ada we're not giving away Ada we're not giving away Ada unfortunately I'm still going to get an email tomorrow about someone who fell for it I'm sorry there's not much more we can do here there's not much more we can say here it is a disgusting situation it's a really really horrible situation and what do we do so I'll guess I'll just keep making these videos I thought the last one I made was going to be the last one I make but I'll guess I'll make one every two three months problem will persist we as a community let's just post this video every week every channel we have we're not giving away Ada we're not giving away Ada it's always a scam you're going to lose your money every Ambassador says it again and again every channel we have we repeat this again and again people just don't listen let greed and ignorance and stupidity overcome them and they get taken in by disgusting people's conduct cheers
