Hi, this is Charles Hoskinson broadcasting live from warm, sunny Colorado. Today is July 15, 2024, and I want to share that I will be in Las Vegas a little before Rare Evo at AI4, which is one of the largest and most prominent artificial intelligence conferences in the world, with over 5,000 attendees. It will be held from August 12th to 14th. I’ll be speaking there alongside many other notable figures, including Geoffrey Hinton, one of the fathers of the large language models we see today. My speech will focus on the intersection and the challenges of merging the blockchain industry with the AI industry.

A lot of people discuss how to better govern AI, where to source data, and how computation is generated. When you think about it, a blockchain system is fundamentally about resource governance. We often talk about how to incentivize the production of computation and the curation of data, and ultimately, how to align and govern AI systems. My presentation will address these intersection points, along with the challenges and opportunities that arise from merging these two significant industries. I hope to see you there; it’s going to be a lot of fun.

I’ll be in Vegas for a little while because I’m attending both Rare Evo and AI4. If you’re curious about the conference, the link is ai4.io. It’s remarkable to see the growth in the AI industry over the last five years, especially since ChatGPT was released. People often say these technologies are magical, and in many respects, they truly are.

However, we still have a long way to go in developing multimodal AI that is genuinely useful, capable of reasoning, and able to provide reliable, deterministic answers instead of hallucinating or presenting dystopian issues. It’s always good to engage with the industry, discuss the state of the art, manage expectations, and separate hype from reality. This conference is a great opportunity for that, given the diversity of attendees from various industries and backgrounds. I want to thank the organizers for inviting me to speak. I attended last year as an attendee and met many interesting people, including Sal Khan.

I hope this year's crowd is just as vibrant, and it seems to be growing. If you happen to be in town for Rare Evo, I look forward to seeing you there. Thanks, everyone, and see you in Vegas! Cheers!
