hi this is charles hoskinson broadcasting live from warm sunny colorado apparently some people hate that introduction and i will remind you that i stole that introduction from the legendary radio personality rush limbaugh he's been on the air for 30 40 years and it's got 20 million people in his audience so i figured that he must know something about stagecraft and radio craft so i want to keep doing it i it all right real quickly just an update video on the pioneer test net we are exiting the week we started it on monday we're already spinning up a new variant of it and because we made some improvements to the kes and our stake pool operators are diligently working their way through exercises so we have a series of exercises exercise number one exercise number two number three and very soon those operators will be spinning up stake pools and making blocks how about that so that's pretty cool they'll actually be running that test net as opposed to the obft backbone on it so the next two weeks will be pivotal for the pioneer testnet this week and next week and basically we'd the pioneer test net operators to make experiential videos basically once a week or something like that what did you learn what did you do what were your issues what were you frustrated about what was easy and this type of stuff it's a great opportunity to introduce yourself to the cardinal community many of them already know you but if you make these videos i will be happy to retweet them regardless if you poo-poo us or not so overall sticks statistics look good we've seen a lot of very encouraging things on the network side devops infrastructure we've already identified a bunch of little configuration things to improve and usability things to improve so from a qa perspective this has been tremendously successful the bulk of those qa issues will probably be resolved with our next release of the node which is occurring may 21st we're on a two-week sprint cycle so the pioneer test net was built from the node that was cut on may 7th and the prior node cut was in april so the next note update is going to occur on the 21st and so we have things queued for that and we have some lower priority things queued for june 4th we're also still of course pushing very hard on the integration of the haskell wallet back end so adrestia to the cardano node and we should know more the second half of this month about that so we'll do a whole update on that progress stream for the product webinar that we do every every month so apart on her team the product managers will mention how that integration is going but it's operating within our anticipated schedule eric decastro and his team are doing a great job right now of working on the cli and they've been adding things cleaning things up rapidly deploying things saying hey there's too much technical debt going back refactoring it because he's a perfectionist but he's a very very very talented programmer and we really love his leadership and his team has been thoroughly professional and they actually worked over the weekend last weekend to get everything ready for pioneer so it's so so cool when people go above and beyond call of duty to to get things shipped on time we're pretty happy about that so yeah next two weeks is going to be a pivotal for the pioneer test net a lot to do the operators have a lot to do they already have a lot of homework and they're starting to work their way through it and i'd love for next week for those pioneers make some videos also remember that pioneers have been instructed to bring on two more people so we'd like to grow from a set of 19 to an additional 38 people so if you want to be a pioneer too and you'd like to be part of that set cozy up to the pioneer group because that's actually their responsibilities to find friends and family of their own to bring on board to to train and then they're your accountability buddy they'll make sure you guys go through the exercises as well i instructed our director operations jeremy to actually create a spreadsheet for me with a list of all of the pioneers and each column has a check mark for exercises exercise one two three have they made a block yet have they registered a pool these types of things and just so i can watch that spreadsheet be updated real time and if anybody hasn't quite gotten through that to directly reach out to them and say come on you're a pioneer you should do this it's going to be fun but overall it's exactly how you launch a network and it's it's exactly how you get these things done you bring in a kind of a cohort of people who keep you accountable and honest and they have enough technical skills to know if the work is good or bad and no matter how good we are predicting the future or designing things there's always something we missed because they'll notice it and we say oh that's a good point and then we go and quickly patch that before we do the main release so we'll have more for you next week on the launch of the shelly haskell test net for maintenance for for everybody the global test net and we'll have a lot more at the end of the month for the product update that we do the monthly product update hopefully some really good news i just signed the contract today for the virtual summit provider and we're putting a whole agenda together we i think have five or six work streams for it and we actually just managed to secure a very very very very special guest to come to the summit you guys will never guess but you've used his work before actually we all do we're all building on his foundations so i'm very excited about this particular special guest but we won't announce that until we put up the website for the virtual summit so that's a little sneak peek the announcement of the announcement these things you guys love that so much all right that's all i got for you on pioneer just a quick update about it a successful launch a lot to do tons of little things to clean up definitely in alpha next week is going to be a super busy week for everybody and hopefully the operators can actually make some videos to talk about their experience we've got a huge checklist of improvements that we need to do and we can very rapidly work through those improvements in anticipation of launch of the mainnet and test nets and you guys very very soon we'll be using the exact same software that the pioneers are using only they've managed to kill all the snakes and bears and get rid of the malaria so you have a much better and more comfortable time than they have been having as with all things and then very shortly thereafter we'll do the balance check so everything's still on schedule everything's still looking pretty good the things we're experiencing were exactly what to be experienced and we're so glad we've been able to actually show this to people outside the company and it's been a very rich and rewarding experience so until next time thanks guys so much and i'll see you next week
